Published: May 06, 2023
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Flying Eagles head coach Ladan Bosso has picked four foreign-based players in his 21-man squad list for the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup.
Given that it was already known that Joel Ideho (Arsenal), Kenny Coker (Norwich City) , Michael Ologo (Istanbulspor) and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro (Inter Milan) were dropped from the squad, there are no surprises in the foreign-based players selected.
Olubi Adams, Osakpolor Alessandro Odobo (Lechia Gdansk), Abdullahi Ibrahim Bewene (FC Banik Ostrava) and Oshaba Onuh (NK Hask), who were officially invited to attend the training camp will also miss the tournament in Argentina.
Swedish club Trelleborg were confident that their player Abel Ogwuche was going to the included in the final squad list and gave him the green light to travel this week to join the training camp in Abuja.
Ogwuche has been selected in Nigeria's final 21-man squad along with Botev Plodviv duo Ume Emmanuel and Tochukwu Nnadi, and AC Milan youth team midfielder Victor Eletu.
Eletu will not be traveling with the squad on Saturday and has been permitted to link up with the team in Argentina.
Nigeria will face Dominican Republic, Italy and Brazil at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup, which will take place between May 20 and June 11 in Argentina.
