Everton's Nigeria-eligible striker hits second half brace against Manchester United U18s
Published: May 07, 2023
Everton's Nigeria-eligible striker Coby Ebere put on a show as the Toffees came back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw against Manchester United in their final U18 Premier League game of the season at Finch Farm on Saturday, May 6.
Ethan Wheatley got ahead of the Everton goalkeeper and nodded home in the seventh minute to break the deadlock after a great bal in from Adam Berry.
Four minutes before the interval, Jaydan Kamason doubled the advantage when he ghosted in at the back post, and banged the ball home.
Ebere slotted home from close range to reduce the deficit three minutes into the second half after he was picked out by Matthew Apter, taking his tally in the U18 Premier League to seven goals in nineteen matches in the process.
Deep into stoppage time, the Anglo-Nigerian youngster smashed past goalkeeper Elyh Harrison to salvage a point for Everton.
The result means Everton finished the U18 Premier League North season in fourth place with 33 points accumulated across twenty four matches in the division.
Ebere joined Everton at U11 level and signed his first professional contract in September 2022.
The 17-year-old is also eligible to represent Germany and England at international level.
