Cremonese stand to bank N5.4b from the sale of Super Eagles striker to Rangers
Published: July 03, 2023
The imminent signing of Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers by Rangers could cost 6.5 million euros (approximately N5.4 billion in Nigerian currency).
The fee is similar to the amount Cremonese paid Racing Genk for the services of the Nigeria international last summer.
According to Italian transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, Rangers will complete the signing of Dessers on Tuesday with personal terms and a transfer fee already agreed.
The Light Blues will pay a transfer fee of five million euros to Cremonese and including performance related add-ons, the amount could increase to 6.5 million euros.
The Belgian- born Nigerian striker will sign a contract that will run for four seasons, until June 30, 2027.
Dessers was under contract at Cremonese until 2027 and is leaving the Tigers after directly participating in nine goals (7 goals, 2 assists) in 29 appearances across all competitions.
The deal taking Dessers to Ibrox materialized after few weeks of tough negotiations with the Italian Serie B club not lowering their demands for the 28-year-old.
