Monaco close to agreeing transfer for Nigerian CB despite interest from Tottenham
Published: July 30, 2023
French Ligue 1 club Monaco are close to reaching an agreement with Fulham for the signing of Manchester-born Nigerian central defender Tosin Adarabioyo.
According to Foot Mercato, Monaco have reached an agreement with Tosin despite interest from Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
As per the report, Monaco and Fulham want to complete the transfer of the Manchester City academy product before next weekend.
Tosin was on the list of players being targeted by Tottenham Hotspur for the center back position, but the north London club have not firmed up their interest for the Anglo-Nigerian by making an official bid to Fulham.
Monaco are prioritizing the signing of Tosin as they want him to replace France star Axel Disasi whose transfer to Chelsea is imminent.
Tosin wants to secure a move to a top European club this summer in order to increase his chances of playing international football for Nigeria or England.
He has not figured for Fulham in their pre-season matches amid speculation surrounding his future.
Since landing at Craven Cottage in 2020, he has appeared in 107 matches in all competitions, registering two goals and three assists.
