Chelsea remain interested in signing former Super Eagles invitee
Published: August 07, 2023
Sky Sports UK has provided an update on Chelsea's pursuit of 2021 Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise.
Per the report, Olise returning for a second spell at Stamford Bridge is still on the cards but the Blues have to see off competition from Manchester City in the race to sign the exciting winger.
The France U21 international of Nigerian descent has a release clause of £35 million in his Crystal Palace contract which runs out at the end of the 2025-2026 season.
Chelsea are mulling over whether to trigger his release clause and are also ready to discuss the possibility of a structured deal.
Olise has seen his stock rise after a breakout season at Crystal Palace in 2022-2023, with thirteen goal involvements (2 goals, 11 assists) in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old established himself as a first team regular under Patrick Vieira and then Roy Hodgson, having featured in all but one of the matches played by the Eagles last term.
Crystal Palace boss Hodgson recently admitted that it would be difficult to keep Olise with several clubs circling around him.
The English-French-Nigerian-Algerian player joined Crystal Palace from Reading for a fee of eight million pounds in July 2021.
