Official: Ex-Flying Eagles striker joins Montpellier in club-record deal for Lillestrom
Published: August 07, 2023
Through their official website, French Ligue 1 side, Montpellier have announced the signing of former Flying Eagles star Akor Adams from Norwegian outfit Lillestrom.
Although the transfer fee has not been disclosed, Lillestrom informed via their official website that Adams' transfer to Montpellier is 'by far the biggest LSK sale of all time'.
Adams was signed as a potential replacement for France youth International Elye Wahi who has been linked with a move to London-based clubs, Chelsea and Tottenham.
The Nigerian forward will have a big void to fill following Wahi's performance last season when he scored 19 goals in 33 games in the Ligue 1.
The former Flying Eagles forward has expressed his delight upon joining his new side and is eager to meet his new teammates.
"I have a very good feeling when I arrive here. I think I have come to the right place, at the right time to take a step forward. I can't wait to meet everyone and start this adventure," he told the club's website
Adams has been in impressive from for Lillestrom in the Eliteserien, the Norwegian topflight, averaging a goal per game.
He led the top scorers' chat before his departure, netting 15 goals in 15 games.
The former Sogndal player will be hoping to replicate the heroics of fellow compatriot John Utaka who helped Montpellier win the Ligue 1 in the 2011/2012 season.
He is in line to make his debut when they take on Le Havre at the Stade de la Mosson, the club's home stadium on the first match day of the new Ligue 1 season.
