Chelsea activate N33.9b release clause for former Super Eagles invitee
Published: August 15, 2023
Chelsea's transfer spree is showing no sign of stopping as they have activated the release clause for former Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise.
As reported by The Athletic(subscription required) transfer expert David Ornstein, Chelsea have agreed to pay the 35 million pounds (approximately N33.9 billion in Nigerian currency) release clause for the Crystal Palace forward winger.
As earlier reported, they are also on the verge of agreeing personal terms with the English-born winger.
The two-time European champions had a blunt attack in the Premier League last season and they are rectifying that flaw in this transfer window.
They have already secured the signings of Christopher Nkunku who was RB Leipzig's top scorer last season and Nicolas Jackson who scored 9 goals in his last 8 games for Villarreal in the La Liga last season.
While Olise has not proven to be a prolific goalscorer, he adds creativity to Mauricio Pochettino's side.
The 21-year-old recorded 11 assists last season in the Premier League which was more than any Chelsea player and Pochettino would be hoping he can replicate same if he completes his move to Stamford Bridge.
