Ibadan-born striker scores first half hat-trick for Bolton Wanderers
Published: August 15, 2023
Ibadan-born striker Victor Adeboyejo netted a first half hat-trick as Bolton Wanderers registered their fourth successive win in all competitions in the new season, thrashing Fleetwood Town 3-1 at the Toughsheet Community Stadium (Bolton) on Tuesday night.
The former Arsenal youth teamer has started the season in fine form, either scoring or assisting in each of his first three games in the League One.
Adeboyejo turned home a pass from Paris Maghoma to break the deadlock inside three minutes to give Bolton Wanderers a dream start and things got better at minute 14 when he doubled the advantage.
In the 37th minute, the 25-year-old bagged his hat-trick, putting the game out of the reach of Fleetwood Town in the first half.
Adeboyejo thought he had scored his fourth goal in the 63rd minute but his joy was short-lived as the linesman ruled it out for offside.
This is just the second time in his career that he has managed to score a hat-trick since turning professional and his first came against Forest Green Rovers back in October 2022.
Prior to joining Bolton Wanderers, Adeboyejo spent time with Leyton Orient, Barnsley, Bristol Rovers, Cambridge United and Burton Albion.
Thanks to their superior goal difference over Peterborough United and Stevenage, Bolton Wanderers are topping the third tier of English football with nine points from three games.
