Done deal: Former Flying Eagles defensive midfielder joins FC Kaiserslautern
Published: August 23, 2023Through their official website, German 2.Bundesliga club FC Kaiserslautern have announced the signing of former Flying Eagles defensive midfielder Afeez Aremu.
By transferring to FC Kaiserslautern, one of the traditional clubs in German football, Aremu has ended a three-year association with St. Pauli.
Aremu has joined FC Kaiserslautern on a permanent basis but the Red Devils have not provided any information on the length and financial details of the contract.
The 23-year-old played 59 competitive games across three seasons for St. Pauli, including 54 in the 2.Bundesliga.
Prior to his move to Germany, he represented IK Start in Norway, where he made 63 appearances, scoring five goals and registering an assist.
In his first words as a player of FC Kaiserslautern, Aremu said to the club's official website: "It was important for me to take the next development step in my career. 1. FC Kaiserslautern, one of the most traditional clubs, is a top destination for this.
"The talks with those responsible were very good, I immediately felt at home here and I hope that I can get some playing time so that I can make the season a success together with the team."
Born in Ibadan, Aremu wore the colours of Remo Stars, Sunshine Stars, Rivers United and Akwa United in his homeland before movng to Europe in 2018.
He was a member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2019 Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
