Published: September 02, 2023
Four years after leaving boyhood club Arsenal, Super Eagles playmaker Alex Iwobi has ended his association with Everton by completing a deadline day move to Fulham.
Allnigeriasoccer.com exclusively reported two days ago that Fulham offered Iwobi a five-year contract that will keep him in the English capital until June 30, 2028 after reaching an agreement with the Toffees for the acquisition of the versatile midfielder for a fee of 22 million pounds.
Although Fulham have not disclosed the transfer fee, the Cottagers confirmed that the Nigeria national teamer has agreed a contract until the summer of 2028.
In his first stint with a London club, Iwobi recorded 15 goals and 25 assists in 149 appearances for Arsenal and was in the team that won the FA Cup in 2017.
The 27-year-old came off the bench to score for the Gunners in their Europa League final defeat to Chelsea, in what was his final appearance for Arsenal before heading to Everton .
Iwobi, who netted nine goals in 140 appearances for Everton, reunites with former Toffees manager Marco Silva at Fulham.
In his first words as a Fulham player, Iwobi said to FFCtv: "I’m buzzing, I just can’t wait to get started, I’m excited to start my journey here.
"Marco Silva spoke to me about the ambitions of the Club, and I’m on board. Hopefully I can bring something to the Club."
Since making his international debut for the Super Eagles in 2015, he has scored ten goals in 63 games.
