Anjorin makes controversial claim that Portsmouth are a bigger club than Bournemouth, Southampton

Former England youth international of Nigerian descent, Faustino Anjorin has made a controversial claim about the pedigree of Portsmouth, saying they are a bigger club than their South Coast rivals Southampton and Bournemouth.
A day before the close of the summer transfer window, Portsmouth completed the signing of Anjorin on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea, beating the likes of Reading and Dutch Eredivisie outfit Volendam to the midfielder's signature.
Although he was eligible to be fielded for Saturday's 3-1 win versus Peterborough United at Fratton Park, he was left out of the gameday squad due to fitness issues.
Anjorin is excited to join Portsmouth who once had Super Eagles legends Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Nwankwo Kanu and John Utaka on their books.
The Chelsea loanee was born in Poole, which is located in the south coast of England, and used to look up to former Portsmouth stars such as Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Lassana Diarra, David James, Sol Campbell and Sylvain Distin apart from the aforementioned Nigerians.
"I know Portsmouth is a massive club. I’m from down south, so I know they’re a bigger club than Bournemouth and Southampton," Anjorin told The News.
"We have to get Pompey back to where they belong.
"Pompey’s not a League One club, Pompey’s not a Championship club - Pompey are a Premier League club.
"I guess this is about the first steps in getting back up to those levels, so the ambition now is to get promotion."
After seven consecutive seasons in the Premier League, Portsmouth were relegated from the top division at the end of the 2009-2010 campaign.
