Carabao Cup: Crystal Palace's youngest PL debutant reacts to loss against Manchester United
Published: September 28, 2023
Crystal Palace midfielder David Ozoh has taken to social media to react to the 3-0 defeat the Eagles suffered at the hands of Manchester United in the third round of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.
Goals from Alejandro Garnacho, Casemiro and Anthony Martial saw Roy Hodgson's side exit the Carabao Cup at Old Trafford, with Ozoh coming off the bench for the last ten minutes.
The Valencia-born starlet of Nigerian descent was a shock inclusion in the matchday squad against Manchester United as he only recently returned to action after recovering from a hip injury.
Ozoh made his first appearance for the Crystal Palace teams in a Premier League Cup tie with Middlesbrough on September 15, playing for half an hour and was in action for 45 minutes versus Wycombe Wanderers in the EFL Trophy before the trip to Manchester.
When Ozoh made his Premier League debut against Newcastle United in January 2023, he became Crystal Palace's youngest-ever player to feature in the Premier League at the age of 17 years and 260 days, breaking the record previously held by another player of Nigerian descent, George Ndah.
In the closing minutes of the second half against Manchester United, it would have been a lovely moment for Ozoh as he came close to pulling a goal back for Crystal Palace but put his effort wide.
Writing on Instagram, the 18-year-old was delighted to make his second career appearance for Crystal Palace's first team, but at the same time, he was disappointed the Eagles lost the match.
Ozoh said: "Disappointed with the result, but on a personal note happy to get more minutes".
