Super Falcons player ratings: Okoronkwo game-changer, Echegini super-sub, Ajibade tireless

Nigeria claimed their tenth Women's Africa Cup of Nations  title with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Morocco on Saturday night.

Allnigeriasoccer.com rates the performance of the players.

The starters

Goalkeeper

Chiamaka Nnadozie: There was little she could have done to prevent either goal, but the goalkeeper will still be disappointed to have been beaten twice in the final. (5/10)

Ashleigh Plumptre: A difficult outing for the former Leicester City defender, as the Moroccans exploited her defensive frailties in both first-half goals. (4.5/10)

Michelle Alozie: Should have done better in defending the second goal and offered minimal threat going forward. (6/10)

Osinachi Ohale: Her slip while attempting to clear the ball led to Morocco capitalizing and scoring the second goal. (5/10)

Oluwatosin Demehin: Demehin was fortunate not to concede a penalty in the final ten minutes. (6/10)

Midfielders and forwards

Halimatu Ayinde: Ayinde found it difficult to impose herself in midfield, struggling to deliver her usual performance under Morocco’s relentless pressure and intensity. (5/10)

Deborah Abiodun: Abiodun had a shaky start but grew into the game in the second half, playing a key role in regaining possession as Nigeria took control. (6/10)

Rasheedat Ajibade: Ajibade delivered a strong second-half display, working tirelessly on both ends of the pitch and proving vital in Nigeria’s resurgence. (8.5/10)

Chiwendu Ihezuo: Ihezuo was largely ineffective on the left wing and failed to influence the game, eventually making way in the second half. (5/10)

Florence Ijamilusi: Ijamilusi validated Coach Madugu’s decision to start her by scoring Nigeria’s second goal, which brought the Falcons level. (8/10)

Esther Okoronkwo: Another brilliant showing from Okonkwo, who led the comeback with a well-taken penalty and a decisive assist. (9.5/10)

The substitutes

Jennifer Echegini: Echegini made a significant impact after coming on in the second half, showing composure to calmly slot home the winning goal in the dying minutes. (7.5/10)

Rinsola Babajide: The former Liverpool winger linked up effectively with Plumptre on the left flank, contributing with energy and agility on both ends of the pitch. (6/10)

Asisat Oshoala: The former Barcelona forward came on in the second half, using her experience effectively to help Nigeria see out the victory. (6/10)

Shukurat Oladipo: Introduced in injury time (NA)

Sikiratu Isah: Came off the bench in injury time (NA)

Adeyemi Adewale
