Chelsea keeping a close eye on Osimhen's contract situation at Napoli
Published: October 07, 2023
Chelsea are reportedly keeping an eye on Victor Osimhen's contract situation with Napoli.
According to 90min.com, the English giants are waiting to see whether the Super Eagles forward will commit his future to the defending Serie A champions before deciding on whether to pursue a deal for him in the future.
The Blues have been a long-term admirer of the Napoli forward and with their continued struggles in front of goal, it is unsurprising that they still have interest in his services.
Chelsea have scored seven goals after seven games in the Premier League this season, which is the joint-fewest among the top eleven teams in the division and could make do with a striker like Osimhen.
Napoli are still in discussion with the Nigerian forward on extending his stay at the club with his current contract ending in 2025 and are hopeful he will pen a new deal as expressed by the club's President, Aurelio De Laurentiis recently.
Osimhen joined the three-time champions in the summer of 2020 and has grown in leaps and bounds since then, breaking the Serie A record for most goals scored by an African player in Serie A history.
