Onyeka comes off bench as McTominay's injury-time double seals dramatic win for Man Utd against Brentford
Published: October 07, 2023
Nigeria international Frank Onyeka came on as a second-half substitute while Flying Eagles-eligible forward Michael Olakigbe was an unused substitute for Brentford in their dramatic 2-1 loss to Manchester United on matchday eight of the Premier League played at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Mathias Jensen put Brentford ahead in the 26th minute when the ball bounced off Yoane Wissa into the former's path who put the ball past the Red Devils' goalkeeper André Onana.
Scott McTominay drew level for the home side in the third additional minute of the second half when he tucked the ball home after Diogo Dalot's effort was parried away.
The Scottish midfielder would go on to score the winning goal with a precise header from Harry Maguire's pass.
Onyeka came on for Vitaly Janelt in the 70th minute who had received a yellow card three minutes before then.
The Super Eagles midfielder has been struggling for game time since the start of the campaign, failing to start any Premier League game so far with all his 6 appearances being as a substitute
The Bees are tentatively in the 14th position in the Premier League table with seven points while Manchester United are up to the 9th position with 12 points after 8 games.
