Bayer Leverkusen marksman Boniface named in Bundesliga Team of the Week
Published: October 09, 2023Red-hot Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface continued his impressive form over the weekend as he scored for Bayer Leverkusen in their 3-0 victory over Cologne at the BayArena on Sunday.
The performance of the Nigeria international has earned him a place in whoscored.com's Bundesliga Team of the Week for matchday seven.
By scoring against Cologne on Sunday, Boniface also joined the exclusive list of Bayer Leverkusen players to have scored seven goals after 7 games in the German top flight with Herbert Waas, Ulf Kirsten, Patrick Helmes and Lucas Alario being the others.
He has only failed to score in three games so far in the Bundesliga and has not registered at least a goal contribution in 2 matchdays since the start of the campaign.
The 22-year-old is the joint third-top scorer in the German top-tier division with only VfB Stuttgart forward Serhou Guirassy and Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane having more goals than him.
The Bundesliga Team of the Week is dominated by Bayern Munich who have contributed three players including Leroy Sané, Kim Min-Jae and Kingsley Coman.
