Official: Man Utd icon Rooney to coach Emanuel Aiwu at Birmingham City

With a statement on their official website, Championship club Birmingham City have announced the appointment of Manchester United icon Wayne Rooney as the new manager.
Rooney has put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year contract with the Blues.
The England legend has returned to coaching few days after leaving his role as D.C. United head coach after the team was eliminated from the Major League Soccer playoff.
Birmingham City is the third club in Rooney's coaching career after previous stints at D.C. United and Derby County.
The 37-year-old will work with Austria U21 international of Nigerian descent, Emanuel Aiwu at Birmingham City.
Aiwu became Birmingham City’s eleventh arrival of the summer transfer window at the end of August, joining the St. Andrew's outfit on loan for the remainder of the season with an option to buy included in the deal,
The central defender will be hoping his fortunes improve under Rooney after failing to break into Birmingham City's starting lineup since his transfer from Cremonese.
The Birmingham City number 44 has logged just two minutes for the Blues and was an unused substitute on six occasions.
