'Good finish from him' - Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright hails Koleosho after first Premier League goal
Published: December 02, 2023
Italy U21 international of Nigerian descent, Luca Koleosho finally scored his first-ever goal in English football to help Burnley record their biggest-ever win in the Premier League.
Koleosho, who has caused lots of problems for opponents without actually scoring, got his name on the scoresheet in the second half as the Clarets thrashed Sheffield United 5-0 at Turf Moor on Saturday.
The 2023 European U19 champion with Italy had gone thirteen games without finding the net prior to the visit of the Blades.
After goals from Jay Rodriguez, Bruun Larsen and Zeki Amdouni, Koleosho increased the lead in the 75th minute when he beat goalkeeper Wes Foderingham at his near post to put the game to bed.
Reacting to Koleosho's first Premier League goal, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright slammed the Sheffield United players for their poor defending in the build-up to the winger's goal.
Speaking on Premier League Productions post-match, Wright said: "He won't get many opportunities to have that much time in the box like that. Sheffield will look at that, that's just terrible from them but good finish from him."
Koleosho logged 946 minutes spread across fourteen matches, twelve of which he started, before scoring his first goal in the Premier League.
By scoring against Sheffield United, he followed in the footsteps of Italian-Nigerian duo Angelo Ogbonna and Stefano Okaka who have also netted in the Premier League.
