Keep, loan or sell? Chelsea make transfer decision on Super Eagles-eligible player ahead of January window
Published: December 18, 2023
Chelsea reportedly have have no intention of selling or loaning Super Eagles-eligible winger Noni Madueke in the January transfer window.
According to The Athletic UK, the Stamford Bridge outfit have ruled out the possibility of letting the former PSV Eindhoven star leave on loan when the transfer window reopens next month.
Rather than loaning the talented forward out or any other first-team players, the Blues are considering letting their youngsters leave temporarily to gain more first-team experience, one of them being Andre Santos who has struggled for game time at Nottingham Forest with the club planning to recall him.
Despite the hype surrounding his arrival, Madueke has failed to live up to expectations though he was beginning to show glimpses of what he could do towards the end of last season.
Since the start of the current campaign, the England U21 International has struggled with injuries and off-the-field issues which has limited his game time besides the competition for places in the team.
The 21-year-old has made just one Premier League start this term, the same as second-choice goalkeeper Đorđe Petrović who made his full debut in Chelsea's win over Sheffield United over the weekend.
After missing the last three league games due to injury, Madueke has resumed full training ahead of Chelsea's Carabao Cup clash with Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
