Newcastle United showing strong interest in signing Dutch-Nigerian striker with N40b release clause
Published: December 22, 2023
Newcastle are ready to make a push for the signing of Dutch-Nigerian Joshua Zirkzee whose form with Bologna has caught their attention.
According to Milan Web, the Magpies are ready to beat AC Milan to the signing of the former Bayern Munich forward.
The reports state that Newcastle are ready to table an offer in the region of €50m to secure his signature and are also ready to offer him a mega salary which will persuade him to join the club.
Zirkzee joined Bologna from Bayern Munich in August 2022 but struggled to adapt to the rigours of Italian football, scoring just 2 goals in nineteen appearances in the Serie A.
It appears the 22-year-old has finally adapted to the demands of the league this season having scored 7 goals so far which includes his strike against table-toppers Inter Milan in October.
According to Italian transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the Super Eagles-eligible striker has a €40m (approximately N40 billion in Nigerian currency) release clause in his current deal.
Bayern Munich can get him for half of the fee if they are interested in bringing him back to the Allianz Arena while they will also have a 50% share of the proceeds of his sale if Bologna sell him elsewhere.
