Chelsea in pole position: Agent working on deal to bring African POTY Osimhen to Premier League
Published: December 25, 2023
Italian agent Roberto Calenda is said to be working towards a Premier League move for Arsenal and Chelsea-linked striker Victor Osimhen.
According to Calcio Napoli via Il Mattino, Calenda is already working on how the 2023 African Footballer of the Year will leave Napoli despite just signing a new contract with the club.
The report also claimed that Chelsea is leading the race for the signature of the 24-year-old with the London-based continuing their search for a proven central forward.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have scored 29 Premier League goals this season which is second second-lowest among the teams in the top half of the table and could make do with a striker of Osimhen's quality.
Arsenal are also said to be contented with Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah as first-choice strikers and consider the Nigeria international as an upgrade on the duo.
Both clubs no longer have to fear how much Napoli President Aurelio de Laurentiis will demand for the signing of the 2023 Globe Soccer Award nominee as his new contract states how much it will cost to get his signature.
Osimhen has previously revealed his love for the Premier League and it would not be surprising if he moves to the English top flight in no distant future.
