Victor Osimhen has become the highest-paid player in the Serie A after signing a contract extension at reigning champions Napoli.

Celebrated Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport (subscription required), has published a report of the top ten highest-paid players in the Italian top-flight with Osimhen making the most money.

Napoli confirmed on Saturday that the Nigeria international has extended his contract for one more season, keeping him at the Diego Maradona Stadium until the summer of 2026 with a release clause of between 120 and 130 million euros valid only for abroad.

The Super Eagles striker has seen his salary increase from 4.5 million euros to 10 million euros plus bonuses with effect from the start of this season.

Osimhen has overtaken Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku, Dušan Vlahović and Adrien Rabiot as the top earning player in the Serie A.

Before Osimhen's contract extension, Lukaku, who was loaned out to Jose Mourinho's AS Roma for the entirety of the season, Juventus pair Dušan Vlahović and Adrien Rabiot were the highest paid footballers in the Italian top-flight, earning €7 million per season.
