'The chest control and snap volley' - Arsenal icon Dixon hails Olise for fantastic strike against Chelsea
Published: December 28, 2023
Arsenal legend Lee Dixon has praised Michael Olise for his goal in Crystal Palace's 2-1 loss to Chelsea in a Premier League game played on Wednesday night.
Right before the end of the first half, the French youth international put the ball superbly at the back of the net from Jordan Ayew's cross to level the scores for Crystal Palace heading into the half time.
The goal also marked the first time the talented forward would score against Chelsea in his career.
His goal would count for nothing as a late penalty from Anglo-Nigerian winger Noni Madueke would hand the Blues the maximum points.
Dixon while speaking on Amazon Prime Video, via BBC showered encomiums on Olise for the quality he showed in the goal he scored against Mauricio Pochettino's side.
"We talked about Olise's quality in the first five or six minutes.
"When the ball comes in, the touch from Olise to set it up [is superb]. That is absolutely brilliant. He is falling backwards, the chest control, and then the snap volley - the keeper had no chance."
The 22-year-old is proving once again why he is a pivotal player for Crystal Palace's side, having registered 3 goals and one assist in eight appearances in the Premier League this season.
With the Eagles sitting in 15th position on the Premier League standings and just three points above the relegation zone, Roy Hodgson will be hoping the Super Eagles-eligible winger can keep delivering the goods for his side in the coming weeks.
