Manchester United aim to beat Liverpool to the signing of 2021 Super Eagles invitee
Published: January 03, 2024
Manchester United are targeting a summer move for exciting Crystal Palace winger Michael Olise who is also on the radar of Liverpool as a possible replacement for Egypt dazzler Mohamed Salah at the end of the 2023-2024 season.
According to The Standard, the Red Devils want the 2021 Super Eagles invitee to be one of the first signings of Sir Jim Ratcliffe who has just purchased 25% shares of the club and will be in charge of transfers.
The Nigerian-French forward is considered to be one of the players that will revitalize Manchester United's blunt attack with Erik ten Hag's side being the third-lowest scorers in the Premier League this campaign.
The Old Trafford outfit are preparing for a summer overhaul that will see them offload Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, and others deemed surplus to requirement with the 20-time English champions preparing to bring in the French youth international as one of the players to turn the tide around for the club.
Olise just penned a new deal with Crystal Palace which will make it herculean for any deal to be struck in this transfer window.
His new deal with the Eagles is said to contain a release clause which is reportedly more than £35million in his previous contract which implies that it will cost a huge fee to secure his signature.
The 22-year-old was unfit at the start of the season due to the injury he sustained at the European U21 Championship but is now back to full fitness and firing on all cylinders, thus the reason he is on the radar of Manchester United and their arch-rivals Liverpool.
He has notched 5 goals and one assist in 9 games for Crystal Palace this season.
