Reliable transfer market reporter confirms West Ham are pushing to sign ex-Flying Eagles striker
Published: January 06, 2024
Reliable transfer market reporter Dean Jones has confirmed that West Ham United are pushing to sign former Nigeria U20 international Akor Adams in the January transfer window.
The 2022/2023 UEFA Europa Conference League champions have been linked with the Montpellier forward in a bid to bolster their attacking department.
It has been reported that West Ham want to get a move done for the Nigerian striker this month due to a lack of depth in their attack with Michail Antonio out injured and Danny Ings' profligacy in front of goal.
Jones while addressing the Hammers' plans for this transfer window has revealed that the London-based side want to sign a quality striker with Adams one of the targets they deem attainable.
"Yeah, definitely, it's a name that keeps cropping up and because of his decent goals record in France this season, I would find it surprising if they weren't keeping an eye on him because they have scouts working extensively in the area of Europe and their job is to uncover exciting transfer targets that might not quite be as firmly on the radar as of other Premier League clubs."he told GIVEMESPORT.
The stumbling block facing West Ham is that Montpellier are unwilling to let go of their star man this month.
The Ligue 1 outfit haven't had the best start to the campaign with four points separating them and the drop zone, thus the need to keep hold of Adams for the rest of the season.
The 23-year-old has started all league games of Montpellier this campaign and has notched seven goals, the most in the side and the joint-third-best in the French top flight.
