Qatari club Umm Salal SC join race to sign Arsenal youth product Akinola
Published: January 10, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Qatari Stars League club Umm Salal SC are the latest team to register an interest in signing Arsenal youth product Tim Akinola.
Last summer, the 2022 Nigeria's Olympic National Team invitee made a decision to end his association with the Gunners, a year before the end of his contract.
Akinola has been in brilliant form since transferring to Al Bidda SC, playing in every single game contested by the club - ten in total.
Those displays have seen him linked with a transfer to an unnamed Saudi Arabian club who are in talks with their Qatari counterparts over a transfer.
Although the interest from Saudi Arabia is the most concrete as of now, it is understood that the defensive midfielder wants to remain in Qatar and would prefer a move to Umm Salal SC in the January transfer window.
On his competitive debut for Al Bidda SC, he put in a man of the match performance, grabbing two goals to help the Doha based outfit secure a comprehensive victory over Al Ahli SC in the QFA Cup.
Akinola has a valid contract with Al Bidda SC until the end of the 2025-2026 season.
