2023 AFCON: Super Eagles hold final training session pre-Equatorial Guinea at 1530 hours
Published: January 13, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the Super Eagles will hold their final training session on Saturday, January 13, a day before they step out onto the Alassane Ouattara Stadium, Abidjan pitch for their opening game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against Equatorial Guinea.
After training for three consecutive days upon their arrival in Abidjan, Jose Peseiro's side will resume training at 1530 hours this afternoon at Ecole Nationale de la Police, with the session scheduled to start at 1530 hours.
The Portuguese football tactician currently has at his disposal twenty-two players with Victor Boniface, Wilfred Ndidi and Umar Sadiq forced to withdraw from the squad due to injuries.
Kelechi Iheanacho, Terem Moffi and Paul Onuachu have yet to report for international duty as of now.
Regarding the training session on Saturday afternoon, the first fifteen minutes will be open to journalist with accredited tags but interview access has not been permitted.
Peseiro and a nominated player will address the media at the mandatory pre-match press conference slated to begin around 1030 hours at the Palais de la Culture, Abidjan.
Nigeria have not lost their opening game of the Africa Cup of Nation since 2010 when they were beaten 3-1 by Egypt.
