'When you are one of the hottest strikers' - Chelsea target Osimhen says he has figured out next career step
Published: January 23, 2024Victor Osimhen has said that he has figured out his next career step having been continuously linked with a move away from Napoli.
The 25-year-old just inked a new deal with the defending Serie A champions which will expire in the summer of 2026 but that has not stopped the exit links, particularly with Chelsea who have him on top of their wish list.
The Stamford Bridge outfit have been long-term admirers of the Nigeria international and with their continuous struggles in front of goal, it is no surprise that they are still interested in getting his signature.
Osimhen has previously spoken about his intention to play in the Premier League and has now commented about the news linking him with a move to the English topflight.
The Napoli star has said that he has figured out the next step to take in his career and that he is enjoying his time in Naples at the moment.
"The rumour is going around about me linked with the Premier League. But of course in times like this when you are one of the hottest strikers in the globe you expect this kind of thing," Osimhen told CBS Sports Golazo.
"The Premier League is one of the biggest, the best league in the whole world. I'm with Napoli, I just signed a new contract, I am enjoying my time there.
"At the end of the season, I have already made up my mind, I already know what I want to do with my career. Since I started I have been the one taking my own decision and everything is working out well for me, even though when I started it didn't go so well as planned.
"I already know the next step that I want to take so for now I want to finish the season strong and go relax somewhere with my daughter, think about my life and then finally come out with the decision I've already
made."
Should the Nigerian decide to move elsewhere in the summer, he will surely be one of the main talking points for the next transfer window because other European heavyweights besides Chelsea might show strong interest in grabbing his signature.
