Arsenal hoping to beat Chelsea, Man Utd, Tottenham to signing of Super Eagles-eligible striker
Published: March 10, 2024
Arsenal are reportedly hoping to beat Premier League rivals Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur, plus French Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain to the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee.
According to Calciomercato via TEAMtalk, Arsenal are keen on making a move for the talented Dutch-Nigerian in the summer.
The report added that Zirkzee has attracted interest from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Arsenal but the Gunners are in pole position for his services.
Zirkzee is one of the players being targeted by the Gunners ahead of the next transfer window and are reportedly ready to make a push for his signature.
As earlier reported, Arsenal had run the rule over the 22-year-old during Bologna's Serie A clash with AC Milan in January, demonstrating their keen interest in the young striker.
Zirkzee has approximately two years left on his contract which means Bologna will demand a huge fee from Mikel Arteta's side or any other interested club interested in luring him away from the club.
He is said to have a €40m release clause that can only be triggered by Bayern Munich who are unlikely to make a move for him due to the central forward options available at the club presently.
Zirkzee has been named in the Netherlands provisional squad for their March internationals against Scotland and Germany.
