'He is left-footed' - Arsenal's Danish-Nigerian starlet names Man Utd striker as his role model
Published: March 22, 2024
Arsenal youth team striker of Nigeria descent Chido Obi-Martin has expressed his admiration for in-form Manchester striker Rasmus Højlund.
The duo were born in Danmark and it is no surprise that the Obi-Martin has a likeness for his senior compatriot and the latter is hoping to play for the Danish senior side like the Red Devils forward.
The 16-year-old has grabbed the headlines for his efficacy in front of goal for Arsenal youth sides, particularly the U18s.
He scored a whopping 10 goals for the U16s against Liverpool in a friendly game last November which grabbed a lot of attention.
The Denmark U17 international has eight goals in 10 games this season in the U18 Premier League, which includes a hat-trick and a haul.
Currently on international duties with Denmark U17s, the Arsenal youth team striker has chosen Højlund as his role model and revealed what he loves about the former Atalanta forward.
"I really like Rasmus Højlund. He is strong and powerful, so you can learn a lot from him. At the start he didn't score that much for United, but now he has really found his form." Obi-Martin told bold.dk
"He is left-footed, I am right-footed, but we can both score goals"
The Manchester United forward started the season poorly but is beginning to find his feet, scoring seven goals in his last six Premier League games.
Obi-Martin will be hoping to emulate his senior colleague by breaking into the Arsenal team or play for any of any of the other big teams in Europe.
