Fenerbahce defender Osayi-Samuel may face arrest at Istanbul Airport after Super Eagles duty
Published: March 24, 2024There is a possibility that Fenerbahçe defender Bright Osayi-Samuel could be arrested at the Istanbul Airport upon his return to Turkey after his international commitments with the Super Eagles this week.
According to Turkish sports newspaper Fotospor, the 'knife-wielding joker', who ran onto the pitch to confront the away team's players following the match between Trabzonspor and Fenerbahçe on March 17, sparking chaos, has lodged complaints against the players who hit him.
Statements from Oosterwolde, Osayi-Samuel, and İrfan Can Eğribayat are expected to be taken.
Osayi-Samuel's statements cannot be taken for now because he is currently in Morocco with the Nigeria national team ahead of Tuesday night's friendly against Mali's Eagles.
It is alleged that the Nigeria national teamer may be detained by the police for questioning at the airport on his return to Istanbul.
It is confirmed that Miraç Kara, the lawyer representing the knife-wielding joker, has already filed a criminal complaint against Osayi-Samuel and his two of his Fenerbahce teammates.
Kara has indicated that Osayi-Samuel and his teammates brutally kicked the victim's head on the ground and their calves are strong due to their profession.
He also noted that the players were wearing boots with crampons which should be considered a weapon and when an individual is hit, that person may suffer from a brain hemorrhage.
Kara has informed the judge that it wasn't necessary for his client to die or suffer a brain hemorrhage before taking statements from the Fenerbahce players.
