Super Eagles-eligible midfielder back in the treatment room at Chelsea
Published: March 28, 2024
Through their official website, Chelsea have issued an injury update ahead of their Premier League meeting with Burnley at Stamford Bridge.
It appears Super Eagles-eligible midfielder Carney Chukwuemeka is back in Chelsea's treatment room, with the Blues revealing on Thursday that the England youth international is ' undergoing rehabilitation programme'.
Chelsea informed two days ago that Chukwuemeka returned to Cobham from international duty early to work on his fitness.
The Anglo-Austrian-Nigerian starlet was handed his first England U21 call-up for a pair of 2025 European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Luxembourg.
He was not named in the gameday squad as England U21s hammered Azerbaijan 5-1 last Friday before he was excused from the squad.
Chukwuemeka has struggled with injuries throughout the season, restricting his game time to just nine appearances across all competitions, of which only two were starts.
France U21 international of Nigerian descent Lesley Ugochukwu is among the nine players undergoing rehabilitation programme ahead of the visit of the Clarets.
The former Rennes starlet has not been called up for fifteen of the last sixteen games played by Chelsea in the Premier League due to a hamstring injury.
