Published: July 03, 2024
Through a statement on their official website, English Premier League side Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Anglo-Nigerian striker Jemiah Umolu following his release by West Ham United.
The Eagles have stressed that Umolu will begin his career at Crystal Palace with the development squad, though he's eligible to be registered on the club's Premier League roster as he's an U21 player.
He was on trial with the London-based club last season and showed enough to be signed on a permanent deal.
He played a vital role in Crystal Palace's triumph in the Premier League International Cup, scoring one goal and setting up two others against Everton in the semifinal.
Umolu started his career at West Ham having joined the club at the ago of 10, progressing through to the youth ranks to sign a scholarship deal in 2022.
The highlight of his stay with the Hammers is being among the team that secured the FA Youth Cup victory in the 2022/2023 season though he didn't get to feature in any game but was on the matchday squad on two occasions.
In a bid to search for a new club, he underwent trials at Leicester City at the back end of last season.
Umolu would eventually find success at Crystal Palace who have decided to keep him on their books for the foreseeable future.
