Man Utd join Tottenham, Chelsea in the list of clubs interested in signing Danish-Nigerian defender
Published: September 09, 2024
Manchester United are the latest English Premier League club linked with a possible move for Super Eagles-eligible defender Patrick Dorgu.
According to HITC, the Red Devils have the Lecce left-back on their radar ahead of the reopening of the transfer window.
United are looking to sign a new left-back due to the injury problems of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Tottenham Hotspur had Dorgu on their transfer shortlist in the summer window and Chelsea also considered signing him in July but a deal did not materialize.
Spurs are eyeing a move for the dual-national player as a possible replacement for Ben Davies who has entered the final year of his contract at the Lilywhites.
Patrick's Nigerian parents, Paul and Clara Dorgu, were in attendance as the 19-year-old enhanced his burgeoning reputation by scoring forty-seven seconds into his senior debut with Denmark in a 2-0 win over Switzerland last Thursday.
The FC Nordsjaelland academy product has been likened to Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale and he's valued in the region of 30 million euros by Lecce.
The Premier League trio face competition for Dorgu in the form of Atletico Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich who are all keeping tabs on him.
The exciting fullback has played in 38 first team games for Lecce, registering two goals and an assist.
