Official: UAE champions Al Wasl win the race for Super Eagles striker after release by Udinese
Published: October 20, 2024
With a statement on their official website, reigning United Arab Emirates Pro League champions Al Wasl have announced the signing of Nigeria international Isaac Success.
The 2013 Africa U17 Cup of Nations Golden Boot winner with seven goals has joined Al Wasl on a free transfer following his release by Italian Serie A club Udinese a few days before the close of the summer transfer window.
Although the transfer window in the United Arab Emirates is shut, the deal can go through because the striker was a free agent.
A transfer to a Gulf country was seemingly his priority, given he attracted concrete interest from an unnamed club in Qatar, before agreeing terms with Al Wasl.
The financial terms and length of the deal signed by the 2013 Fifa U17 World Cup winner have not been disclosed by Al Wasl.
Success brings a rich European football background, having featured for clubs like Udinese in Italy, Granada FC and Málaga FC in Spain, and Watford in England.
This season, Al Wasl are competing in the Pro League, Presidents Cup and AFC Champions League.
Success has been inactive for club an country since May 19, 2024 when he lasted only seven minutes on the pitch in Udinese's 1-1 draw versus Empoli in the Serie A.
