Chelsea winger George among three Nigerians nominated for Premier League 2 award
Published: December 05, 2024
Chelsea winger Tyrique George is one of the three Nigerians nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month for November.
The other Nigerian players nominated are Sunderland's Trey Ogunsuyi and Crystal Palace's Jemiah Umolu.
They are in contention with Nottingham Forest starlets Joe Gardner and Jack Perkins, Tottenham Hotspur winger Yusuf Akhamrich, Liverpool midfielder Kieran Morrison and Fulham forward Callum Osmand.
George recorded two assists last month to get nominated. He set up Donnell McNeilly for his goal against Arsenal before bagging another in the 6-2 thrashing of Derby County, providing an assist for Kiano Dyer in the fixture.
The 18-year-old has been in imperious form since the start of the season and has helped Chelsea record five consecutive victories in the Premier League 2, registering a goal and three assists within that period.
Ogunsuyi also caught the eye for Sunderland and deserved the nomination. He grabbed a brace and an assist in the 5-2 win over Manchester United before getting an assist in the 3-2 triumph over Manchester City.
The 17-year-old has been in good form in the Premier League 2 this term and now has five goals in five games.
Umolu is the top scorer with eight goals in the Premier League 2 this campaign and continued to impress for Crystal Palace last month.
He registered a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur in Crystal Palace's first fixture last month.
