Chelsea CB Tosin visits Nigeria, holds talks with Lagos State governor amid Super Eagles links

Tosin Adarabioyo returned to Nigeria this week, fresh from his Fifa Club World Cup victory with Chelsea, where they defeated PSG in a thrilling final.

The centre-back is one of several dual-nationality players being closely monitored by the Nigeria Football Federation and Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle ahead of the resumption of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

A decision on his international allegiance is anticipated in the coming months, with Nigeria hopeful of securing his commitment.

Born in London to Nigerian parents, Tosin's football journey began in the youth ranks of Manchester City before he made a move to Chelsea.

Tosin's arrival at Chelsea marked a significant step in his career, culminating in the Club World Cup title.

His time at the club has seen him establish himself as a key player, known for his composure and defensive prowess.

During his visit, Tosin also met and held talks with Governor Sanwo-Olu. The Governor expressed his admiration, stating that it was "always inspiring to meet young Nigerians who make their mark internationally and remain grounded and stay connected to home."

Now, back in Nigeria, Tosin is giving back. He organized the Tosin Adarabioyo Youth Cup, aimed at fostering young talent.

The tournament provides a platform for young Nigerian footballers to showcase their talent and gain valuable experience.

The event is slated today for 4PM at the Onikan Stadium, where He will meet and greet with fans .

The event, which will see participation from several youth teams, will also aim to be a  resounding success. 

Tosin's initiative has been lauded as a significant contribution to youth sports development in Nigeria.
