NPL: Spotlight On Nembe City

Nembe City FC is a team located in oil rich Nembe Local Government in Bayelsa State. It is one of the newly promoted team into the NPL. The team, founded in 2011, is owned by Victor Baribote, who also doubles as the chairman of the NPL.
It gained promotion from the NNL to the NPL in May 2012 with a goalless draw against 2nd place Akwa Starlet of Uyo to top division C with a round of game to go, becoming only the second team to achieve that feat after Gabros International FC of Nnewi.
The team played 15 matches in the Division C category in the NNL, with seven of the games on the road, winning two, drawing four with only one loss. While at home they made use of their home advantage by winning seven of the eight games played, only dropping points against second placed Akwa Starlet with a goalless draw.
Prior to the start of last season, Nembe City had acquired experienced players, majority of whom had played in the NPL with Bayelsa United and Kano Pillars. They emerged winners of the Super Four by beating city rivals Bayelsa United 5-4 on penalty to become champions of the NNL .
Star Players
Uche Fidelis Ihuarulam and Inyang Asuquo are the main predators in the team,. The two strikers have an accumulated 14 goals between them which represents 63% of goals Nembe City scored during the past campaign.
Uche Fidelis, only 19, did not stop at the seven goals he scored in the regular season. The Flying Eagles invitee went on to prove his goal scoring mettle in the Super Four with 2 goals to emerge as the MVP of the competition and increase his season tally to nine goals.
Akhabue Assurance
