Premier League club Bournemouth have announced that dual-national centre-back Matai Akinmboni has joined Scottish Premiership side Dundee on a season-long loan.
The United States youth international of Nigerian descent has joined the 1961-1962 Scottish top-flight champions in search of adequate first team opportunities.
Since his arrival at Bournemouth in January 2025, Akinmboni has yet to make his first team debut for the Cherries despite being named in twelve matchday squads.
The 19-year-old has joined Dundee on loan after impressing during a successful two-week trial.
Akinmboni made his professional debut with Loudoun United while at D.C. United, where he later established himself in the first team before securing a move to Bournemouth
Speaking to Dundee's official website after the deal was confirmed, he said: "It's great to get this done and to be at Dundee for the season. I've been at the club for a couple of weeks now and everyone has been really welcoming, and I just can't wait to get started properly.
"I was at the derby on Saturday and I saw how good the fans were, and now I want to play in front of them and experience that myself.
"I want to play as much as I can and help the team keep the momentum going from the start of the season."
Akinmboni links up with 2023 Flying Eagles invitee Owen Goodman and defender Idris Odutayo at Dundee.
