With a statement on their official website, Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion have announced the signing of former Nigeria U23 international Promise David on a season-long loan.
The agreement includes an obligation to make the move permanent if certain conditions are fulfilled.
It would be a new record fee for Royale Union Saint-Gilloise if the striker joins the Seagulls on a permanent basis.
Born in Brampton, Ontario, David earned two caps for the Olympic Eagles before switching his international allegiance to Canada.
The 25-year-old represented Canada at the 2026 World Cup, where he impressed in the group stage, providing an assist against Bosnia before scoring in a 2-1 defeat to Switzerland.
David joined Union SG in 2024 and quickly became a key player, helping the club win the Belgian title with eight goals in the playoffs.
Last season, he scored Union's first Champions League goal in a 3-1 win over PSV Eindhoven and netted the winning goal against Galatasaray.
The attacker has won four trophies during his time at Union SG, including the 2024 and 2026 Super Cups, the 2024/2025 Belgian league title and the 2025/2026 Belgian Cup.
David previously played for Trnje, Valletta, Sirens and Nõmme Kalju.
