With a statement on the club’s official website, Premier League newcomers Coventry City have announced the signing of Nigerian striker Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest on a permanent transfer.
The 29-year-old forward becomes the latest addition to Coventry’s squad ahead of their return to the Premier League, with the club confirming the deal on Monday.
Awoniyi spent the last four seasons in the Premier League with Forest, scoring 21 goals in 90 league appearances.
He also registered 23 goals in 103 appearances across all competitions during his time at the City Ground.
The Super Eagles forward joined Forest in 2022 after an impressive spell with Union Berlin, where he scored 20 goals during the 2021-22 campaign, including four in the UEFA Conference League.
The Nigerian striker will now link up with fellow Super Eagles international Frank Onyeka at Coventry after the midfielder also completed a permanent move to the club from Brentford.
Awoniyi is likely to make his Coventry City debut against Arsenal in their opening Premier League fixture, giving the Nigerian striker an immediate opportunity to face the 2025-26 Premier League champions.
