Nigeria’s Super Eagles will hold their third and final training session ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against Russia at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium, with the team now up to 19 players in camp.
The final session is scheduled for 7:30pm local time on Monday at the stadium, where the Super Eagles will face Russia on Tuesday, October 6.
The fixture will be Nigeria’s second meeting with the European side after both teams played out a 1-1 draw at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium in June 2025.
The latest addition to Éric Chelle’s squad is Ibrahim Mahfus Ajasa, who received a late invitation from the Super Eagles coach after several players became unavailable for the friendly.
Ajasa, who plays for FC Rostov, joined the team in camp in Nizhny Novgorod ahead of the encounter.
Ajasa’s arrival takes the number of players currently in camp to 19, although the squad has been significantly reshaped by injuries and club-related restrictions.
The players currently available are Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Stanley Nwabali, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Frederick, Wilfred Igor, Samuel James, Kenneth Igboke, Chibuzor Nwoko, Umar Abubakar, Peter Edokpolor, Abdullahi Bewene, Umar Abdullai, Atata Michael, Aderemi Adeoye, Isaac James, Michael Stephen and the latest arrival, Ibrahim Ajasa.
The Russia friendly comes after Nigeria’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Guinea-Bissau in their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign.
The Super Eagles had earlier defeated Madagascar 2-1 in Uyo before suffering the heavy loss in Bissau.
Russia, meanwhile, enter the game after consecutive victories over Iran and Namibia, including a 6-0 win over Namibia on Saturday.
