Former Super Eagles left-back Brian Idowu has backed Russia goalkeeper Stanislav Agkatsev to be the next player from Krasnodar to secure a move abroad.
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, Idowu was a key member of the Nigeria squad at the 2018 World Cup, hosted by his country of birth, where he started all three of the Super Eagles’ group-stage matches against Croatia, Iceland and Argentina.
The defender racked up 181 Russian Premier League appearances across spells with Amkar Perm, Lokomotiv Moscow and Khimki.
When asked to identify which of the talented players produced by the Kuban academy could be the next to make the leap to a foreign league, Idowu had no hesitation in naming Agkatsev.
"Stanislav Agkatsev. Visually, it looks like he’s the next one in line to move abroad," Idowu was quoted as saying by football.kulichki.
"Well, we’ll see what happens next; maybe an interesting offer will emerge for one of the Bulls’ outfield players."
Agkatsev was an unused substitute in Russia’s most recent friendly against Iran, with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Matvey Safonov preferred by Valeriy Karpin to start between the posts.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper will be hoping to add to his international caps on Tuesday evening when Russia take on Nigeria at the Nizhny Novgorod Stadium in Nizhny Novgorod.
