Babalade, Ibadan South West Council Boss Bitter Over 3SC Sanction
Published: July 19, 2013
Following the aftermath of 3SC, Kwara United week 20 of Nigeria Premier League match which had attracted disciplinary action by NFF O&D’s hammer on the Oluyole Warrior, ex-Super Eagles defender and a strong backer of the team Hon. Toaheed Adeleke have expressed their displeasure over the unfortunate incidence.
Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) was placed on three matches-played under closed door while their midfielder, Philip Asuquo and Team Manager Ajibade have been suspended for six NPL matches by NFF’s O&D, the development the duo condemned.
While reacting to newsmen in Ibadan, Adeleke, the Caretaker Chairman of Ibadan Southwest Local Government described NFF’s decision cruel and unwarranted considering what happened on the faithful day.
The council boss who had invested more than N5 million in motivating support for the traditional club this season through his continuous funding of 1,000 match tickets being distributed free to fans at every home match and free league fixtures has tasked the body managing Nigerian league to be more cautious before taken punitive action.
Adeleke was of the opinion that NFF’s sanctions against 3SC outweighed what was perceived to be their offense and if such
continued, the credibility of our League would be at stake.
Ajibade Babalade in his reaction failed to accept the decision of the NFF’s disciplinary committee describing it as malicious and
prejudice which capable of tainting his good personality.
''I was surprised by the outcome of this matter that I knows nothing about, the O&D who invited us for questioning never played
back the tape of the match to see what actually happened after that match, I think is wrong of them to base their judgment on referee’s report alone.
''This is not good for our League, I never harassed or bullied any official. I was only calming our fans who apparently felt bad towards
our technical crew, I don’t know where the center referee Chrisantus Okoro from Enugu saw what he wrote against me, only God will judge”, Babalade noted.
