Fenerbahce Release Emmanuel Emenike For World Cup
Published: May 16, 2014
Nigeria international Emmanuel Emenike was omitted from the Fenerbahce squad that beat Kayserispor 2 - 0 in their final Super League game that took place on Friday evening.
Having already won the championship at the end of April, the management of the Yellow Canaries granted him permission to skip the meaningless encounter.
The 27 - year - old was told to rest and make himself fresh before the start of the World Cup, which begins in the next four weeks.
Despite missing pre - season training, overall, the Super Eagles marksman gave a good account of himself, netting 12 goals in 28 appearances though he was not fielded in his favourite role when he newly joined the club.
Emmanuel Emenike did not find the back of the net in his last 6 games, with his last strike coming against Gaziantepspor about two months ago.
