Chigozie Obasi Off To Spain For Deportivo La Coruna Test

Nigeria youth - teamer Chigozie Obasi picked up his visa last Friday from the Spanish embassy, and will depart Lagos today with his agent, Oliver Noah to Spain, where he has been scheduled to test and have a medical with Deportivo La Coruna.
Initially, the Segunda Division outfit had planned to run the rule over the soon - to - be 16 - year - old after the World Cup, but they have now insisted that he embarks on the eight hours thirty five minutes flight to La Coruna immediately.
“Chigozie Obasi and his agent, Oliver Noah will leave Lagos for Spain tonight, Iberia Airline flight will depart 10 pm. Deportivo La Coruna have insisted that they want to see him immediately after we informed them of his successful visa application.
“He prefers La Coruna to the other teams that wanted him, Recreativo de Huelva, Real Avilés and Auxerre (France), because he loves Spanish football.
“If everything happens as planned, he’ll sign a preliminary contract as he’s still a minor before signing a four - year deal when he turns 18,” says Dominic Egbukwu, CEO of CEO of Soccer Sports Management Limited, to the Nigerian edition of Soccer Laduma, SL10.ng.
Chigozie Obasi has been likened to another Nigerian midfielder based in Spain, Ramon Azeez of Almeria.
