Published: October 27, 2014
Ex Flying Eagles invitee Lucky Omeruo helped himself to a first half brace, as Pembroke Athleta defeated Rabat Ajax FC 2 - 1 on Sunday afternoon to qualify for the third round of the Maltese FA Trophy.
Thus, Lucky Omeruo, the younger brother of Super Eagles defender Kenneth, has scored three goals in all competitions this season, including his strike against Fgura United in the league last month.
Pembroke Athleta are joined in the draws for the next stage of the competition by St. George’s, Senglea A, Birzebbuga SP, Zurrieq and Lija Athletic, who all have Nigerians in their ranks.
Ex FCM defender Noah Ojuola and Gabriel Okechukwu were both on target for St. George’s in the shoot-out win over St Andrews on Saturday.
Unarguably, the most outstanding performance of the second round in terms of goals was from Abdullahi Ige Adeshina, who bagged a hat - trick in Lija Athletic’s 7 - 0 thrashing of Oratory.
Joseph JoJo Ogunuppe scored a brace as Zurrieq defeated Dingli after extra time to book their place in the next round.
Former Nigeria Under 17 international Jeremiah Ani and Augustine James Obaje were on the score - sheet for Birzebbuga SP and Senglea respectively.
