William Troost-Ekong Thanks Dordrecht For Giving Him The Opportunity
Published: May 18, 2015
William Troost-Ekong bid farewell to FC Dordrecht and their supporters with his head held high after starring in the club’s 2 - 1 win against Ajax Amsterdam on Sunday in the final game of the season.
The former Holland youth international, who has since pledged his future to the Super Eagles, lasted the full distance at Riwal Hoogwerkers Stadion .
“Despite it being a game which has no direct influence on our position and Ajax’s position, it was important for us to finish the season in style for the fans,” says William Troost-Ekong to allnigeriasoccer.com.
“We deserved to win as we were the better team on the day . They scored against the run of play but we managed to pull a goal back.
“And in the last minute we rewarded ourselves with the winning goal. ”
The Tottenham Hotspur product is drawing down the curtain on his career with FC Dordrecht after roughly one and half seasons with The Schapenkoppen.
“I am grateful for the opportunity I have had this season to show my qualities in the top division in Holland and finish the season in form,” Ekong concluded.
Cumulatively, the Nigeria target played 32 matches for Dordrecht , including 22 starts.
