Former Algeria Hero, Tasfaout : We Gave Two Goals To Nigeria
Published: December 13, 2015
Former Algeria hero Abdelhafid Tasfaout has blasted the Algeria Under 23 national team for their poor display in the first half of final of the Africa U-23 Cup of Nations against Nigeria.
The ex captain of the national team has echoed the words of coach Schürmann, saying the young Fennecs gifted the Dream Team their two goals and added that the missed penalty was the turning point in the match.
“Sincerely, we played the worst first half of the competition. Fortunately, players were rallied in the second half, was much better , many mistakes were committed and we have not been able to impose, ” Tasfaout told Le Buteur.
“I must say that we gave two goals to Nigeria. If we had been vigilant, our opponent would have found it hard to score us goals. That’s football, is not an error-free game.
“The missed penalty was the turning point of the match. If he had been successful, the result would not have been the same .”
Algeria last qualified for the Summer Olympic Games in 1980 and they got to the quarterfinals before losing 3 - 0 to the old Yugoslavia.
