FCT Coaches Task NFF; Reject Foreign Coach For Super Eagles
Published: April 03, 2016
The Nigeria Football Coaches Association (NFCA), FCT Chapter has challenged the leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation to immediately put necessary machinery in motion to ensure that the Super Eagles qualify for the next edition of the African Cup of Nations and the 2018 World cup holding in Russia.
Rising from its monthly meeting in Abuja at the weekend, the FCT Coaches regretted the non-qualification of the country Super Eagles for two consecutive editions of AFCON, and described it as a wake up call to all football stakeholders in country, and the need for all to unite for the interest of the country.
The Assembly frowns at the non inclusion of the President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association as a member of the Technical Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation which they see as a deliberate action to malign the frontline professional body in Football and demand an immediate correction of this anomaly in the interest of Nigeria.
1) The Assembly faults the recruitment of Coaches into the National Teams particularly the Super Eagles and advises the NFF Board to ensure that recruitment of Coaches should henceforth be done by people with professional competence.
2) The Assembly laments the lack luster attitude of National Teams Coaches to the Nigeria Football Coaches Association which gives an impression that they are not proud to be Coaches and advises that membership of the Coaches Association should be a criteria for engagement by Clubs and the National Teams.
3) The Assembly is concerned about the under staffing of the Technical Department of the Nigeria Football Federation and calls for engagement of more coaches to assist in boosting the technical capacity of the Federation.
4) The Assembly advises the NFF to as a matter of urgency address the delay in the kick-off of the season for the Nigeria National League (NNL), Nationwide League (NWL) and the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL).
5) The Assembly advises the NFF to shun all forms of crisis, ensure a coherent, proactive, peaceful, development focused and result oriented Federation.
6) The Assembly rejects any plan now or in the future to engage the services of a foreign coach (s) for the National Teams.
